Expungements, Sealings and Firearms Rights

Clearing Your Record

Wouldn't it be nice to have your criminal record vanish from the public eye? No one would know about the former charges and allegations against you, and your past would not be able to haunt you anymore. You could move on with your life and your career, and regain the right to carry a gun.

As a Spokane, Washington, attorney handling many types of criminal defense cases for the past 10 years, I know how to help with expungements and restoration of firearms rights. My law firm has the resources you need to fight for your rights.

Expungements and Sealing the Record

When you have moved past a mistake made a long time ago, and the court recognizes that you have moved on, your record should reflect that. The expungement and sealing the record process can erase your record — both the arrest and the conviction.

You need to qualify for the expungement process. First, the crime for which you were convicted needs to qualify. Some crimes cannot be expunged and sealed, like second degree murder and most felonies. Second, for each crime a certain amount of time must pass before you can apply for expungement.

There are two parts to clearing your record, and you cannot have one without the other:

  • Expungement — erases the conviction from your public criminal record
  • Sealing the Record — erased the arrest from your public criminal record

Restoring Your Firearm Rights

From the earliest days of our founding, one of the most fundamental rights as Americans has been our right to own a gun. However, like many other rights, your firearm rights are not completely immune to government interference. If you have lost your right to bear arms, I can help.

The first step, of course, is to expunge and seal your record. Then I will apply on your behalf for the restoration of your firearms rights, and represent you at the subsequent hearings.

Your Story

When the court expunges and seals your record and restores your firearm rights, it is like the court acknowledging your story — acknowledging how you have moved past your former crimes. This is one of the most important aspects of a sealing and expungement for my clients. Either call my Spokane, Washington, office or send me an e-mail to meet with a lawyer.
